The short version
- Your videos and photos are processed on your device and are never uploaded to us.
- There’s no account. We don’t ask for your name, email or phone number to use the app.
- No third-party analytics SDKs.
- On the Free plan you can choose to watch a Google AdMob ad to unlock a save. Google may collect device identifiers and other device data for that ad. Pro has no ads.
- Payments are handled by Apple or Google. We never see your card details.
- We don’t sell your personal information.
01Who we are
Motio (“Motio”, “we”, “us”) makes the Motio app, which turns videos into Live Photos, Motion Photos, looping videos and GIFs. This policy covers the Motio apps for iOS and Android and the website at motio.dwirandyh.dev.
02What we don’t collect
Motio does not operate servers that receive your content. We do not collect, store or have access to:
- your videos, photos, Live Photos or anything you create in the app;
- your name, email address, phone number or contacts;
- your location (Motio never asks for location permission);
- your browsing history or activity in other apps.
The Free plan includes Google’s ad SDK (Google Mobile Ads / AdMob). When you choose to watch an ad, Google collects some device data, such as your device’s advertising identifier, directly. Motio doesn’t receive that data. See Advertising for details.
03What stays on your device
To work, Motio stores a small amount of information locally on your phone only. It never leaves your device unless you include it in your own phone backup (iCloud or Google backup), which is governed by Apple’s or Google’s privacy policy.
- Your Motio library: references to the source videos you used, and your edit settings (trim range, key photo, motion mode, speed, Perfect Loop).
- Motion Brush masks: the areas you painted, saved as image files.
- Analysis cache: motion data used by Smart Moment and the wallpaper check, plus thumbnails.
- Preferences: default export format, sound, quality, watermark and haptics settings, and your daily free-save count.
Smart Moment, the wallpaper check, face detection and Motion Brush’s Subject and Sky selection all run on your device, using Apple’s Vision framework on iOS and Google’s ML Kit on-device models on Android. No images are sent to Apple, Google or us for this processing.
You can delete this information at any time by removing items in the app, using Settings › Clear cache, or uninstalling Motio.
04Permissions we ask for
Motio only asks for permissions when you use a feature that needs them. On Android, the advertising ID permission used by Google’s ad SDK is granted when you install the app. You can change these anytime in your phone’s settings.
| Permission | Why | If you decline |
|---|---|---|
| Photos / Media | To show your videos so you can pick one, and to save the Live Photo, Motion Photo, video or GIF you create. On iPhone you can grant Limited Access to selected items only. | You can still import videos from Files, but saving to your library won’t work. |
| Files | Only when you choose to import a video from Files. You pick the file; Motio can’t browse your storage. | Use your photo library instead. |
| Set wallpaper (Android) | To set your creation as a live wallpaper when you tap Set as wallpaper. | You can set it manually from your gallery. |
| Tracking (iPhone, App Tracking Transparency) | Asked only on the Free plan, just before the first ad you choose to watch, so Google can use your device’s advertising identifier (IDFA) for ads. | Ads still work but are non-personalized, and the IDFA isn’t shared. |
| Advertising ID (Android) | Granted at install. Lets Google’s ad SDK use your Android Advertising ID to serve and measure the ads you choose to watch on the Free plan. | Reset or delete the advertising ID in your device settings (see Advertising). |
05Purchases
Motio Pro is sold through the Apple App Store and Google Play. Apple and Google process your payment under their own privacy policies. We never receive your name, email, card number or billing address.
The app checks your purchase status directly with Apple’s StoreKit or Google Play Billing on your device to unlock Pro. We receive anonymous, aggregated sales reports from Apple and Google (for example, the number of subscriptions in a country), which do not identify you.
06Advertising (Free plan only)
The Free version of Motio can show rewarded ads from Google AdMob, and only when you choose to watch one. When a save is blocked on the Free plan (for example, after your daily free saves), the paywall offers an optional “watch an ad” button that unlocks that one save. There are no ads at launch, during onboarding or anywhere else in the app, no interstitial ads, and at most three rewarded ads a day. Pro users never see ads. The reward is checked on your device; Motio has no ad server of its own.
What Google may collect
Ads are delivered by the Google Mobile Ads SDK, which sends data directly from your device to Google. Depending on your consent and settings, Google may collect and process:
- device identifiers, such as the Android Advertising ID or, if you allow tracking on iPhone, the IDFA;
- your IP address and an approximate location derived from it;
- device and app information, such as device model, operating system, language and app version;
- ad interaction data, such as which ads were shown, watched to the end or tapped.
Google uses this data to deliver and measure ads, limit how often you see the same ad, prevent fraud and, where you have consented, personalize ads. Your videos and photos are never shared with Google or used for ads. Motio itself does not receive this data. Google’s handling is described in How Google uses information from sites or apps that use its services and the Google Privacy Policy.
Your choices
- Consent: where the law requires it, including the EEA, the UK, Switzerland and US states with privacy laws, Motio uses Google’s User Messaging Platform (UMP) to ask for your ad privacy choices before any ad is requested. You can change them at any time in Motio under Settings › Ad privacy choices.
- iPhone: before the first ad, iOS asks whether Motio may track you through App Tracking Transparency. If you decline, you’ll get non-personalized ads. You can change this in Settings › Privacy & Security › Tracking.
- Android: you can reset or delete your advertising ID in Settings › Privacy › Ads (or Settings › Google › Ads, depending on your device).
- No ads at all: don’t tap the ad button, or upgrade to Pro.
07Diagnostics & statistics
Motio doesn’t include third-party analytics or crash-reporting SDKs. (Google’s ad SDK, described above, is used only for ads.) If you have agreed in your device settings to share analytics with app developers, Apple (App Store Connect) and Google (Play Console) may give us aggregated, anonymous data such as crash reports, app version and device model. We use this only to fix bugs and improve performance. You can turn this off at any time:
- iPhone: Settings › Privacy & Security › Analytics & Improvements › Share With App Developers.
- Android: Settings › Google › Usage & diagnostics (wording varies by device).
08When you contact us
If you email us, we receive your email address, your message and anything you choose to attach (such as a screenshot, device model or a video to help us reproduce a problem). We use this only to reply and to fix the issue you reported. We don’t add you to a mailing list.
We keep support emails only as long as needed to resolve your request, and delete them within 12 months. Ask us at any time to delete your messages sooner.
09This website
motio.dwirandyh.dev does not use cookies, advertising pixels or analytics trackers. Our hosting provider may keep standard server logs (such as IP address, browser type and the page requested) for security and to keep the site running. These logs are not used to identify you. The support form on this site doesn’t send data to us; it opens your own email app.
11Children
Motio is not directed at children under 13 (or the minimum age in your country) and we don’t knowingly collect personal information from children. Children’s videos and photos stay on the device. Ads in Motio are optional, appear only when a user chooses to watch one, and are not targeted at children. If you believe a child has sent us personal information by email, contact us and we’ll delete it.
12Your rights
Depending on where you live, including the EU, UK and California, you have the right to access, correct, delete or object to the processing of your personal information, and to complain to your local data-protection authority.
Because Motio doesn’t store personal information on our systems, the only data we may hold about you is support email. Write to us to access or delete it. Everything else is on your device and under your control.
For data Google collects when you watch an ad, use Settings › Ad privacy choices in Motio, your device’s tracking or advertising ID settings, or the tools described in the Google Privacy Policy.
13Changes to this policy
If we change how Motio handles information, for example by adding a feature that needs a server, we’ll update this page and the effective date above before the change takes effect. For significant changes we’ll also tell you in the app.
